Before filing a report
- Update Steam and the PlaytestMake sure every crew member is on the current beta build.
- Capture the exact stateRecord the menu, quest step, server name and error text instead of paraphrasing what happened.
- Try one change at a timeFor connection problems, align Steam Download Region first, relaunch, then test the in-game server list.
- Use the in-game report buttonThe official beta provides a bug report tool and feedback survey. Testers also have a private Steam forum.
- Avoid destructive workaroundsDo not delete save folders, modify game files or install unofficial patches without developer guidance.
Open: how progress is saved
A public Steam thread asks how to save progress and currently has no reply. The May development update says progression carries between levels, but that statement does not explain autosave timing, manual saves, host ownership or what survives between beta sessions.
Until the developers publish details, exit through the game menu when possible and treat force-closing as risky. See the dedicated save page for the exact known boundary.
Reported: quest order can block a crew
One tester reports that everyone in a server needs to stay current with tutorial and quest objectives, and that searching an area before the game prompts it can prevent server progression. The thread has no developer reply yet.
This is specific enough to use as a caution, but not broad enough to describe as a universal rule. Keep crews on the same objective and report a reproducible blocked state.
Workaround: friend can see a server but cannot join
A three-reply Steam thread includes a concrete community workaround: put every player on the same Steam Download Region and join from the in-game server list rather than Steam Overlay. Another reply mentions changing display settings to reach the Join control.
No developer has endorsed those steps in the public thread, so they remain community troubleshooting rather than an official fix.
Open: Simplified Chinese in the beta
Steam currently lists Simplified Chinese interface and subtitles for Frostrail. Two public commenters say they cannot find a Chinese option in the beta, and there is no official answer on that thread.
That mismatch may be limited to the test build. It does not prove that Chinese support has been removed from the planned Early Access release.
Sources and context
Official material establishes game facts. Community threads are labeled because a player report is evidence of a question or workaround, not a developer guarantee.
