Join and start correctly
- Check the Playtest appAccepted players should see Frostrail Playtest in their Steam Library. The retail store page alone does not mean access has been granted.
- Install the current buildLet Steam finish the download and any update before joining a crew. Mixed builds can make troubleshooting impossible.
- Use the official feedback pathsThe beta includes an in-game bug report button and feedback survey. Testers can also use the Playtest-only Steam forum and the Discord testing role.
- Plan around September 7The official launch note gives an end date but does not promise that the build or progress remains available afterward.
What this beta is for
FakeFish is using the Closed Beta to collect direct feedback before Frostrail enters Steam Early Access. The official Spring Development Update described more than 100,000 applications for an earlier playtest and a continuing cycle of bug fixes, onboarding work, new levels, dungeons, train defense and repair changes.
That context matters when reading any guide from this week: a behavior seen in the beta may change before Q4 2026. This site dates build-specific observations and does not turn a single report into a permanent game rule.
Where testers can talk about the build
Accepted testers can open the dedicated Steam discussion area from Frostrail Playtest in their Library. Discord testers can obtain the testing corps role through the Discord button inside the playtest. The public Frostrail forum is useful for discoverable questions, but it does not contain every beta report.
Because the official announcement explicitly says there is no NDA, screenshots, recordings and streams from this test may be discussed publicly. That does not make every community explanation accurate; reproducible steps and developer replies still carry more weight.
What is not promised
The announcement does not state that every access request will be accepted, that beta progress will carry into Early Access, or that the test client will remain playable after September 7. It also does not publish final pricing, full PC requirements or a dedicated-server plan.
